Chillout with @doombiscuit.bsky.social last night - hopefully a more frequent occurrence now we live closer. Enjoyed Alien Romulus.

Preparing for an informal presentation to my peers on the interpretation of the Revelation to St John. Taking my cue from the Visual Commentary on Scripture, I'm roping in some of my own favourite art, namely the 1958 film of Dracula. #Hammerhorror #biblicalstudies

Astonished that Amazon Prime Video has an 'abridged' version of It's a Wonderful Life that cuts the entire final act - the best and most important bit, the whole 20-minute sequence where Clarence shows George what Bedford Falls would have been like without him. Bizarre.

Gorgeous choral setting of Psalm 133 on the #CofeE Daily Prayer App for Evening Prayer today. player.captivate.fm/episode/28378053-7398-4658-8ed5-ae4b39a9854a?t=123 Only just realised there's a 'Notes' feature that tells you who's leading the service. Would be good to see composers, too!

Since now I know you like British crime shows and you are frustrated with the Manchester-Liverpool line, you'll get a kick out of this tweet of mine that went semi-viral a couple of years ago.

Sorry to hear that the actor Eryl Lloyd-Parry has died. It was lovely to get to know him in my first production with MATE/Imaginarium, Shakespeare's As You Like It, in 2016. Proper old-school classical thesp and a really affable chap, universally loved.

Child being prepared for confirmation in my parish this morning was asked what we mean by 'confession.' She answered 'Being honest about our sins before God' - a verbatim quote from the teaching Eucharist I led a couple of months ago. Her mom told me, 'She still has all the cards at home.' Chuffed.

For years I've checked regularly for news of an Audible (audiobook) edition of John Masefield's The Box of Delights, but I can only assume there's some sort of Amazon-related rights issue, because to this day it just doesn't exist. It would be a hit. The BBC Blu-ray is on my Christmas list, obvs.

Watched Scrooge (1970) yesterday. Despite the liberties it takes with Dickens, I love this version immensely. It's the first version I remember seeing.

On the Feast of St Francis I was made a postulant in the Anglican Greyfriars. Here are a few photographic highlights of our chapter retreat at Neston this week, ft. me with Brs Kevin, Alasdair, Rhodri and Brian (canine).

Returned home from a visit to friends in Wales with two books I forgot I lent them years ago (Bruce Malina's The New Testament World & John Dominic Crossan's The Historical Jesus) and two new acquisitions (Kenneth Leech's True God and CS Song's Jesus in the Power of the Spirit).

This absolute chancer would have just kept on arguing with the Canaanite woman until she slunk away defeated, wouldn't he? Lord, have mercy.
