"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts." ~Daniel Patrick Moynihan
This is a great response by Bethlehem; there is no need to "kick out" Kelly from an institution (the district "hall of fame") that hasn't even existed since 2021. And their statement is a clear dig at Kelly. Their biggest mistake was to have a "hall of fame" to begin with, which was stupid.

Pot calling kettle black. Of course, the biggest knuckleheads aren't politicians - they are the people who elect (and often re-elect) them.

The best part of this letter is that it makes it look like Northwestern isn't capitulating at all and bends over backwards to make the laughable claim that this was a "bold" move in line with the university's "values." I hope the NW faculty, students, and alumni see this as the total BS that it is.

The insane need for so many in the media to put a higher premium on "balance" than objective reality is a major problem with no end in sight.
November 29, 2025 at 4:28 AM
Yes, except that major media outlets will not frame it this way and instead refer to it as "controversial," as if reasonable arguments could be made both for and against this practice. The unwillingness to media to call out Trump, even when there is objective evidence to support it, is amazing.

Whenever we see one of these you can always predict that the people will say they "didn't know" about something or that they "don't believe it" or some other qualifier. These are not well-informed people and they come there simply to defend what they already believe, regardless of it's validity.

The founders recognized this problem over two centuries ago. Madison, Hamilton, Adams, and others knew that democracy cannot survive unless the populace is educated and virtuous. Millions of Americans are neither. Trump is a reflection of a much bigger problem - namely, millions of Americans.
November 26, 2025 at 8:14 PM
This is wonderful - thanks so much for sharing it! By the way, do you have any comments about the recent Ken Burns doc The American Revolution? I haven't seen you post yet about what you thought about it.
November 26, 2025 at 2:05 PM
I wish the TU and every other media outlet would simply print (or vocalize, if on radio or TV), verbatim and without comment, Trump's posts on Truth Social. It's news, it's not "biased," and it would reveal to millions how completely insane and moronic the president of the United States truly is.
November 26, 2025 at 1:39 PM
It would be poetic justice if a Democrat is elected president in 2028 and appoints Kelly as secretary of defense.
November 25, 2025 at 8:40 PM
When enough Americans lack virtue themselves, they will elect a president who lacks virtue. Madison, Hamilton, Adams, and other founders warned us, and millions of Americans failed the test.

It's useful to remember that the majority of voters in Tennessee *voted for this*. No one can pretend that something like this could not be predicted when states vote Republican. Most voters there *want* this insanity!
November 25, 2025 at 3:50 PM
Now becoming a real contest as to which paper is more right-wing on their op/ed pages: the Post or the Washington Examiner.
November 25, 2025 at 3:46 PM
As insane it is, that fact will also lose him some voters. This is Alabama, after all.
November 24, 2025 at 11:03 PM
If this gets more farmer to vote for Republicans and they take financial hits for doing so, I am all for it. And totally against a "bailout" for these people, who want it for themselves but not for anyone else.
November 24, 2025 at 2:43 PM
None of this happens if millions of Americans were not so deluded as to believe that Trump "cares about" or "understands" them. It remains amazing how many Americans are complete and total suckers - people who actually believe that billionaires can relate to them and want to help them.

Except that the last thing the world needs is more lawyers. Also, research has consistently shown that lawyers have one of the lowest reported levels of job satisfaction. It's not all about money.

High praise from @dicknixon.bsky.social, and notable that all three names that he mentions are Democrats.
November 22, 2025 at 9:22 PM
What a beautiful piece. Heartbreaking and enraging at the same time, in that her own uncle has made things worse for her (and the country). Thanks again for nothing, Trump supporters - you are all complicit in this madness.
November 22, 2025 at 4:24 PM
Harry Enten has a very weird way of delivering information and when he comes on I frequently just turn the channel. Annoyingly manic.
November 21, 2025 at 8:15 PM
This is why no one should think about trying to "unify" the country when these people are racist assholes. Can we please stop pretending Republicans and their supporters are "good people." They're not!!
November 20, 2025 at 10:52 PM
Millions of Americans do. Trump will go away, one way or another, and soon. But the millions of Americans who continue to hate immigrants are people of color aren't going anywhere.
November 20, 2025 at 6:29 PM
Multiple examples, just in the last 24 hours, of Trump's cognitive decline. Someone should write a book about it!
November 20, 2025 at 5:12 PM
Media outlets will largely not even report on it. If *any other president* posted this same message, it would be page 1 everywhere. But Trump has figured out that if one rarely says or does insane things it will get covered when it occurs, but not if those things happen routinely.
November 20, 2025 at 3:40 PM
Any large corporation will emphasize profit over everything else. "Ethics" only matter if enough members of the public complain and it hurts corporations financially as a result. If that occurs, they will behave "ethically." But it is because of potential (or real) loss of revenue, not ethics.
