Why did everything suck? 3 decades of economic stagnation. Waves of rural people escaping their dying suburban/rural towns looking for work, gas being unaffordable, people flooding the cities looking for food like the Grapes of wrath. All this written before anyone knew what AI/covid would lead to.

Its crazy how something like that works subliminally though. It got me in to see “Wreck-it-Ralph” years ago. The cross over scenes maybe comprised 5 minutes of the whole movie too. I think what I really wanted out of that flick was the mainframe world of Reboot, but with arcade classic Charecters.

One of the crazier details to me, was that the US dollar, British pound, and Yen were no longer stable currency. So everyone turned to “Oasis” credit and fake internet assets became as expensive, or more than real life assets. People paid this, because not being online as often as you could sucked.

Im sure Stephen Spielberg thought he did a good job on the flick, but “The iron giant” in a war along side Master Chief, and then making one of the key answers to the riddle “driving backwards in a Delorean” (really? Thousands of people looking for the prize never thought to do that?) was too silly.

I thought this book was initially written in the late 80’s-90’s, and was trying to be prophetic about the internet (a la Neil Stephenson’s Snow crash) but it turned out to be more prophetic about the decline of North American living standards, and rich corporations poised to enshittify a public good

I put 70 hours into Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. The game’s combat still hasn’t clicked at all, and I am worried I wont be able to beat the game if the main campaign requires any of it. The combat really sucks: if *Anyone* has a shield in their hands the A/i fights way too defensively. Terrible.

I got semi forced into an audio book club at work by way of a gift copy of “Ready player One” by Ernest Cline (2011). I was initially “ok” with the movie, but soured on it later (as the film that wanted to appeal to two different age groups, but didn’t do either Well). The book is better.

That said, the real problem is existing terminally online, and thinking that porn web art circles are indicative of peoples broad thoughts offline too. Most folks don’t even know that I, or “Living Machine art” exist. The faster I put my nose down and grind, the better my chances will be.

Worked myself into a huge tizzy the last 2 weeks over the idea of getting “credit for one’s hard work” despite an atmosphere where artistic IP is wholesale disrespected every second of every day (See call of Duty 7 A/I scandal). I just want to protect my world building effort against this crap.

Alright, anything “Prince Tomcat” related is going to have all kinds of styles, from the toony to the monstrous. I will experiment with designs as I go. Hopefully I will have something more Eldritch by the time I get back to Atol Lab. Same Charecters, just different ways to draw them. TF Alt modes

Make necessary changes so that people fully understand that the Dires are not vehicles any more, but Lovecraftian eldritech monsters. Endearing to man most of the time (because of their hidden mission), and 5% of the time utterly terrifying. I have to figure this out, and it has to be different.

I am not going to “take my ball and go home”, or wholesale quit the project. But i think i have to make changes to stay ahead of the game. To be “on the nose” about stuff. Draw dires so people understand without a doubt that the cockpits, cabs, bridges are not useable by humans anymore for example.

I think its gonna suck doing this. I drew Tomcat because i wanted to fuck tomcat pure n simple. But that machine is way too iconic, and the people cant tell my creations from anyone else’s. I cant stop being bothered by it. I need some credit for the world I am drafting, and the story I am writing,
