i don't think the premise is necessarily compelling to me, which may be why it never reached my circles, but it's wild to me i hadn't at least seen an article or something mention it if it's this huge

realizing part of the disconnect here is I responded to part of the article mentioning IEPs affecting college admissions, whereas earlier sections referred to accommodation rates within the universities themselves. that's my bad for clarity, I was specifically referring to unis in my reply

no I get that, I was posting not to critique your point about public institutions but to clarify my own about universities, which is also what is being discussed within the article — that even if the same rules apply at uni level, they are not enforced in the same way as K-12

Article's from a few years ago but it's an example of how even if that's true, there's not great enforcement unless you want to run a case up to the supreme court. For grad students who perform work or research, accommodations may also fall under the ADA, which allows the uni to ask for diagnoses.

yeah many programs require specific ADHD testing in order to provide accommodations—testing which is not necessarily required for a diagnosis, which is a minimum of $1000, and which is often not covered at all by insurance! let's be serious here
