Everyone has a favorite Hallmark-style Christmas movie. The heroine turns to small town America during the holidays, recovers her real identity, finds love, dumps her toxic ex and saves her relationship with her kid.

My favorite just happens to be "The Long Kiss Goodnight" starring Geena Davis.

If by some quirk you find yourself at Thanksgiving with a person arguing that the US should arm all the teachers, may I humbly suggest you counter with "We should make all the cops get teaching certificates."

We need it. Not only are the classes full, but also concert halls, libraries - we've gone to a bunch of classical concerts this year as an antidote to despair and guess what - they are full. They were not as full before, but they are now.

"Humanities are shrinking" is artificially imposed top down.
"While other universities report that the humanities are shrinking, at Berkeley, the opposite is true. The music major is the fastest-growing major on campus. We are finding bigger classrooms because film is exploding. English is back to the numbers we saw 15 years ago. We are hiring" bit.ly/4ohKuOe

Ignoring, for a moment, the present crisis the fact remains national party discipline is tilting the US toward a Parliamentary style of government where a President controls their Congressional delegation. This US system isn't structured to cope with this & we're going to have to patch it.

THEY PEPPER SPRAYED A BABY

Please read this entire excellent piece by Caroline, which points out that a judge ordered the Feds (again) to stop doing **this exact kind of thing** and they are still continuing to do it all over Chicago
Arianna Sofia Veraza and her parents were driving to Sam's Club for milk, eggs and diapers yesterday when they heard helicopters and horns blaring yesterday. They had turned around to leave when a federal agent pepper-sprayed them through a car window.

I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

I am so over the "Nazis were stylish" trope. It's not that Nazis were stylish -- _Germans_ were stylish. Even the Communists. Even inveterate schlub Karl Marx somehow managed to look put together in pictures.

OK, here's the pitch. It's a TV show called "East Wing" and it's just a PowerPoint on loop for an hour that says "Jeff Epstein didn't kill himself."

We'll get Aaron Sorkin to EP.
