Publication Day!

I am 1182 words from finishing #nanowrimo - and I would love to be done a day early, but I just don't know if I can squeeze out that many more today. Even if I write that amount, I'm still not at the end of the story...so this will go into December! Just not at quite the same speed.

It’s officially Denver’s first snow of the season!

A whopping 0.2” at DIA = we’re on the board. First measurable snow since April 18 (225 days).

❄️ 2nd-latest first snow of the season (12/10/21).

❄️ 225 snowless days = T-3rd-longest snowless on record for Denver.

We might get our first snow tomorrow in Denver...then again, we might not. At least the snow in the mountains is helping the snowpack. Good news for next year's water.
Worth noting that any snow that falls tonight will probably stick on roads…will have some slick spots, even if totals are unimpressive.

Slick spots late tonight/tomorrow morning.

And of course, the mountains will be tough driving tonight and tomorrow morning.

Top Colorado weather headlines, in order:

1) Mountain snow: good hit 6p-6a, 3-10” along/north of I-70.

2) Denver cold: coldest air so far this fall. Highs near freezing both days.

3) Denver snow: Trace-2” (most closer to a trace) tonight. More light snow Sunday PM.

Did a bunch of short #writing sprints today to get caught up after falling behind yesterday (due to cooking and running in the turkey trot). I'm now 3275 words from the #nanowrimo goal of 50k. It would be nice to finish early! Not sure I can do it, but I might try.

Did the neighborhood Turkey Trot today for the first time in several years. Very fun and I improved my time from the last 5k!

Ugh. 17th and I? Stood on that corner so many times.
NEW: DC's Metropolitan Police Dept says it has one suspect in custody after a shooting at 17th and I, near the White House.

AP reports that two members of the National Guard were shot, which DHS sec Kristi Noem confirms in a tweet.

Jeff Mason of Reuters reports that the White House is on lockdown.

Alternating writing sprints with making pie today. Also picked up my race packet for the Turkey Trot. It's a good thing I'm getting some good sleep this week, since I think I'm going to need it. So glad I don't also have to deal with travel hassles, like so many of you are doing!

Reached 40,151 words for my #nanowrimo project today - less than 10K to go! The story is moving along at a good pace, too, so as long as Thanksgiving doesn't derail me, I should be able to make it.

I'm keeping up with #nanowrimo, but only barely - just 22 words ahead of par tonight. But, I wrote 1646 words today, which I honestly didn't expect to be able to do. Just one more week of this, and no idea what's going to happen in this story tomorrow.

since the "google is now training gemini on your email contents" thing keeps bumping around here: it's _not happening_. I say this not to defend google but because I know a lot of people that have broken their filtering and made their lives much more annoying from sheer misinformation.
The malwarebytes Google opting-your-emails-into-ai-training thing is not true. The post is based on one bad tweet.

I know anti-tech lamenting is a Bluesky core principle, but please use the same judgement you would for any other clickbait.
