They pressured her to take a plea behind the scenes and when they realized they had to go to court they turned tail and ran. They avoided accountability by fleeing. Sadly it's a sound strategy.

They need to discredit him by any means necessary and one of the most effective ways to do it is strip him of rank and throw him in jail. However, I sincerely doubt they'll find a judge outside of Texas or Florida who'll run with it.
