I sit up in bed, yawning and stretching, when it occurs to me: Passover week! It begins today! Since my twelfth birthday, I have been eagerly awaiting this week of traveling, worshiping, and feasting with my parents. I spring out of bed and sprint out to wake my parents, ignoring the pain in my toe after stubbing it on my bedroom door. ​“Mama! Papa! Wake up,” I call. “We’re going to Jerusalem!” ​My parents clothe themselves and emerge from their room, groggy yet happy and ready for the big trek ahead. ************************************************************************ ​Like a deer through a field of wildflowers, my feet barely touch the ground as I skip along the road leading to Jerusalem and King Solomon’s glorious temple. I only stop to help Mama and Papa lift our cart when it hits a stone. Finally, after what seems like forever and a day, I see in the distance the temple, gleaming in the sun as if radiating the glory of God Himself. ​Mama stays behind in the women’s court while Papa and I select a lamb to give to the high priest as a sacrifice. As Papa takes a lamb and places it in my arms to carry up the steps, a new sensation washes over me. For the first time, I feel a sense of sorrow concerning the practice of sacrifice. I have been taught that people take innocent, spotless, young animals and burn them so as to let the wrath of God come down on the animals so that sinful, imperfect people may be free from that wrath. However, as I feel this innocent, spotless, frightened lamb struggle in my arms and listen to its bleats and cries for its mother, my eyes fill with tears.

Obviously, Arnold Vosloo would return as High Priest Imhotep. Alan Tundyk would play The Mummy as he can hold his voice in the Ed Wynn position the longest. As for Drac, I can hear either Ben Stiller or Will Ferrell.

You mean *ours*! Panel 6: Imhotep: *Expression changes to a displeased frown* And while we're at it, why have you *led* me here? Panel 7: Mummy: I didn't, but if you must know, I'm here to fulfill a promise I made to a friend. His habibti (lover) slumbers on this alter. I shall awaken her and then marry them. But *you*! Chapter 2

Panel 1: Drac laying Hagatha's body on the temple alter. Gold-gilded staircase and fire pits in the background Panel 2: Drac kisses Hagatha's body affectionately as he waits for the arrival of the priest with The Book of the Dead Panel 3: Drac turns toward the staircase as "Imhotep's Theme" plays, signifying the arrival of said priest. Panel 4: The Mummy descends the stairs in his priest robes and scarab chain, in his hands is the book, on his face is an expression of innocence Panel 5: The Mummy imagines himself back in Imhotep's body; same robes, jewelry, and book, but expression is pure evil Panel 1: Imhotep looks down at the body on the alter in perplexity. Imhotep: ?... Panel 2: Imhotep imagines Ancksunamun's body in a black burial gown on the alter. Imhotep: *In gold writing* Ancksunamun..? Panel 3: Ancksunamun's body begins cross fading back into Hagatha's. Imhotep: *Writing changes back to silver, indicating the vocal shift from Imhotep to The Mummy* Ní... Panel 4: Only Hagatha's body is left on the alter. Mummy: Hagatha... Panel 5: The Mummy looks up, an unidentifiable expression on his face. Remorse? Bereavement? Self-doubt? You be the judge. Panel 1: The Mummy's hand reaches down into his robe pocket. We see a bronze armband fastened on his wrist. Panel 2: Hand pulls out the bronze, star-shaped key to unlock The Book of The Dead. Panel 3: The Book of The Dead Panel 4: The Mummy's hand unlocking the book Panel 5: The Mummy looks down at the opened book, a golden glow emitting from it. Panel 6: Page with hieroglyphics on it. Mummy: *!* Panel 7: Mummy's eye twitches as he breaks a sweat, losing his nerve to read. Mummy: *Gulp* *Twitch* Panel 8: Drac: *Off-panel* Wait! Panel 1: Drac: I got it, Mummy! I got it! Panel 2: Mummy: Drac? What’cha got? Panel 3: Panned out view of Drac; in the background is Imhotep’s own sarcophagus. Drac: Mummy! I know how to get your Arabic back! You need to get angry! Mummy: …? Panel 4: Mummy: *Expression is a mix of confusion and disappointment* Get-get angry? *That’s* your idea? Panel 5: Drac: Mummy, remember? At the gateway, when I made you so angry, you created a sandstorm? You also spoke two Arabic words in a *completely* different voice! If we can just get you on the same level of rage as back there, we can get your Arabic back! Panel 6: Mummy: *Contemplative expression* *Inner monologue* Hmmm…This might be our only shot. Panel 7: Mummy: Ok, Drac. I’m desperate for anything. But whatever we do, let’s be very careful with this. I don’t wanna hurt you or Hagatha in my rage, ya know.

Panel 1: A dying Hagatha settles against a tree stump, blood seeping out her neck. Drac's hand covers her wounds. Hagatha: "Dear, sweet Dracula." Panel 2: Drac's bereft, remorseful face, blood dribbling from his fangs and down his chin. In the background are two gnarled, dead trees. Drac: O Hagatha, my love...I begged you to stay away...All those years ago... Panel 3: Hagatha: Drac...Go find The Mummy...And fly me to Hamunaptra... Panel 4: Hagatha slumps full-body against the tree stump and dies, having succumbed to her blood-loss; Drac hangs his head, presumably weeping over her body. Mummy: Ooh hoo, why thank you, Drac! Yes, it feels good to be back! Panel 5: Mummy: I only wish it could have been under more jolly circumstances, ya know. (Here, his smile turns to a mournful frown.) Panel 6: Drac: Ah, come now, Mummy, don't be sad. Once all this is through, we will have the *jolliest* of times. And think of it: *You're* the one to make it happen! Mummy: Eh, look, Drac, it's nice of you to give me this chance, but I just don't want to see you get your hopes up. Drac: What? Why not? Mummy: Well, for one thing, it *has* been years since I've spoken Arabic, ya know. And my accent just isn't what it used to be. Drac: *Aside* Ha! Say that again. Drac: Er, but that shouldn't matter, right? So long as you can still *read* the words- Mummy: That's just it, Drac. I don't know. The resurrection seems spell is a verbal one, so, for all I know, it *could* be voice sensitive. Not to mention, but I *will*, The Book of the Dead is a risky relic. Very, *very* risky indeed, ya know. Drac: Yes, I know it is, Mummy. But I am willing to risk anything to have my Hagatha back.
