I was a Whovian, but DW didn't air in Canada till '76 had a 2 year delay. US PBS stations started showing it in '78, all 4th Doctor at first. In 1984 I'd watch 5th Doctor on TVO, 3rd and 4th on NY PBS stations, while in UK they were on the 6th Doctor already.
With all the talk and fighting over “recommended reading/watch orders” and pressure to consume media in very prescribed ways, I feel we’ve lost a chaotic shared fandom experience and nerd conversation topic.

Just took a short training course on incident management, in which cartoon animal people introduced me to the phrase "normalization of deviance." So basically a furry con, right down to the number of characters working in infosec.

I picked up boxes of anthro comics, zines, conbooks and related 1980s-2010s ephemera from a local moving to the UK. The first three books I noticed... one of which I wrote, and one of which I contributed an adventure to. And the first zine I opened had art by @artyewok.bsky.social from 1995.
