We need to see what these committees generate & we have to hold Zohran to his commitments, but we also need to give him space to develop workable policy

Many of the people he has appointed have already staked out positions in opposition to his plans, and they will be obstacles to implementation in the future. Bringing them in now to see where it might be possible to work together only improves his chances of getting things done.

To accomplish that you'll need very experienced people from all parts of the spectrum on any given issue. Zohran's selections are really very broad. That there are people from different parts of the political spectrum not happy with some appointments I take as a good sign

The starting point on each team will be Zohran's priorities. But the committees will then debate what is realistic, how it can be achieved, what obstacles might be in the way & how those can be overcome. The goal is to get good workable ideas the Mayor can start his term with.

First, Transition Teams are appointed volunteers. They are not paid, have not been hired by the administration, and much more than likely will not serve in the administration. Their job is to workshop the known priorities of the Mayor-elect into workable policy options.
