I've been doing the fireplace in a Germanic style for many years (here and previous houses). We only bought a tree 8 years ago when we moved here. The mirror decorations are new this year (a combo of homemade and bought when in Strasbourg). #festive

I think I may have invented the "sconnen". Its a fruit scone with the flavours of stollen: sultanas, marzipan cubes, candied peel, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon. Topped with a marzipan star.

Following on from the other day's stollen, I'm thinking I might make "sconnen".
NT fruit scone recipe but with some of the sultanas swapped out for candied peel, cranberries and mini chunks/coarse gratings of marzipan. And the stollen spices obviously.

First bake using the new beast.
"Stollenish". Its a trad. stollen recipe, but rather than a roll of marzipan running through, I cubed it and mixed in.
I need to rethink the prove to get a better texture (its by no means bad though) but the flavour is spot on.

M&S have finally let me down.
I've been buying their trousers/jeans for many years and always in the same waist/leg measurement.
Until yesterday. A lovely olive/khaki pair of jeans. I can't fasten them. You'd be able to see what religion I am.
I refuse to go up a size so refund it is 😂

Oooooh a Kenwood food mixer *half price* at John Lewis (also a good looking Bosch one for similar price). Wonder if P can be persuaded.

The only pre-made Christmas food we'll have this year will probably be the limoncello panettone I got the other day, a jar of mincemeat (which we'll bulk up) and some pigs in blankets. Otherwise, it'll be the usual meat, dairy, fruit, veg and lots of homemade stuff.
