I’ve long used FiveThirtyEight’s interactive “Hack Your Way To Scientific Glory” to illustrate the idea of p-hacking when I teach statistics. But ABC/Disney killed the site earlier this month :(

So I made my own with #rstats and Observable and #QuartoPub ! stats.andrewheiss.com/hack-your-way/

nanoparquet 0.4.1 is out. Reads and writes Parquet files. Comes with a completely rewritten and surprisingly speedy `read_parquet()`, ability to read a subset of columns, `append_parquet()` which does _not_ rewrite the whole file, and lots more: www.tidyverse.org/blog/2025/01...

Why does @weare.rladies.org have less than 1000 followers? We can do better than this #rstats folks. It is a terrific account to follow because every week not only we get to know a new member of the #RLadies community but we also get to read their R favorites, tips, and jokes.

Springer with knowledge-endangering "AI" bullshit, now? Fucking SPRINGER???

Pull the fuck up, we are losing cabin pressure and ground is rising
NEW: Springer Nature — the prestigious publisher of scientific journals like Nature and the 1845-founded magazine Scientific American — is imploring published journal authors to buy $49 AI-generated "Media Kits" that summarize their own work.

If you've made a feed with @skyfeed.app and want to filter out posts that spam lots of random hashtags, add the following regex filter:
^(?:[^#]*#){0,5}[^#]*$

It will filter out posts with more than 5 hashtags.
