I think we all have friends/mutuals/family who only forwards posts. They rarely #write anything original. Ever since I joined social media in 2008, I've wanted the ability to filter out those reposts. Not all, just those users who flood my feed with bursts of 5 or 10 shares. #socmed #filter #rant

For #throwbackthursday, this catalog cover for manager uniforms for McDonald’s. 1994. Yes, I worked at McDonald’s in high school. I can't imagine any of the male managers wearing a blazer and burgundy vest (hahaha). They all wore blue shirts and navy trousers.

A lot of non-profits and advocacy groups are overwhelmed. The bad news is: We're surrounded. The good news is: We can attack in any direction. That is: When there are multiple problem areas, pick one or two and work on those.

Today's Financial Rant™️ I never tire of saying that it's impossible to define a person by a single number ( #creditscore) yet landlords and others do it all the time. I've heard great things about the #creditkarma app. Credit Karma is a good first step in understanding how creditors see us.

Every #gaybar I've ever gone to has a #toydrive for the year-end holidays. Usually by the end of the drive the collection boxes are overflowing. It's pride weekend in Palm Springs. Saw this at #Streetbar. Very savvy on the part of the requesting org to get their collection boxes out this weekend.

The FlightAware app is free with ads. Very, very useful for tracking flights. Has a button for "Where is my plane?" that tracks the actual aircraft. You can see if it departed en route to you pick up place. Excellent info given the misery caused by delayed/canceled flights. #flightaware #airports

The USA would be a much better place if our federal elected officials had mandatory retirement at 72. Personally, I couldn't wait to retire. I do not respect old people who hang on and on no matter how much good they might be doing. Open the floor for younger people #retirement #pelosi

Every aspect of Pirates of the Caribbean ride was prototyped. Not an inch of the actual ride was started at Disneyland until all details / safety were designed. Better than modern #tech that shouts: "Move fast and break things." Real people have been really hurt by sloppy tech. #throwbackthursday

I attended a #book festival over the weekend. I was surprised none of the publishers mentioned video games as the logical progression of digital fiction. Yes, we'll always have #books, but video games strike me as a more immersive experience. #gamedev #gamestory #writing
I literally founded Mischief with the idea that we'd take a team of people who understood video games very well but were also extremely capable storytellers, and then we'd build our games using the stories as the actual scope of the game

People really do involve writers waaaaay later in projects than they should. There's this weird tendency to think they can easily "punch up" a weak game all alone, while also simultaneously undervaluing the work and complexity of it.
To say nothing of people who confuse it with narrative design.

My undergrad work was in Linguistics, so my ears pricked up when I heard some new words and phrases used by young people. #writing #writingcommunity I especially like the concept that something puzzling deserves to start a podcast to solve a mystery.
