When the federal government shutdown disrupted SNAP payments and left thousands unsure how they’d afford food, @massgovernor.bsky.social stepped in. She directed Massachusetts to issue full November SNAP benefits to all 650,000 households, ensuring families didn’t go without during the uncertainty.

You transformed a moment of panic into a moment of relief for thousands. You ensured no call went unanswered and no neighbor felt alone while trying to access food. Thank you for fueling the compassion, rapid response, and support when people needed it most.

🚨 Earlier this evening a federal court judge in Rhode Island ruled what we already knew: the Trump Administration has the resources & legal authority to provide low-income households their full November benefit. Our advocacy continues until families have funds:

“What happens when food runs out?” That’s the question we’ve been hearing over and over again from panic-stricken callers to our FoodSource Hotline. Since last Saturday, tens of thousands of Massachusetts residents have already lost access to their SNAP benefits.

Last week, speakers shared powerful stories on the steps of the State House at our Rally for SNAP. Together, we made it clear: SNAP is a lifeline we cannot afford to lose.

People are hurting right now due to delays in SNAP benefits. Families are struggling to put food on the table, forcing them to make choices between groceries, bills, and other essentials. Food is not a luxury. It is a fundamental right. Call or text our FoodSource Hotline at 1-800-645-8333.

The last 24 hours have brought confusion and contradictory messages from the White House. Every delay deepens hardship for families relying on #SNAP. Whether benefits are partial or withheld, food-insecure households suffer. We demand answers—access to food is a basic necessity, not a privilege.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our Rally for SNAP! It was a powerful show of solidarity, sending a strong message that the federal government MUST fund SNAP to prevent 1+ million people in MA from going hungry come November.
Let's keep advocating: projectbread.quorum.us/campaign/145...

Join us this Tuesday, October 28, at 12 p.m. for a Rally for SNAP at the Massachusetts State House! November 1 is quickly approaching. Most years, this means welcoming the holiday season. But this year, it means millions losing the ability to buy food, including 1+ million people in Massachusetts.

#SNAP can’t stop! USDA must act now to release funds & keep food on the table. If they won’t, MA must step up to protect families from hunger. Take action ➡️

The federal government is refusing to provide transparency and failing to use the contingency funds set aside for this exact purpose. The Trump Administration could stop this. Congress could stop this. If that inaction continues, the state must be prepared to step in to protect families from hunger.
October 24, 2025 at 3:06 PM
⚠️ SNAP benefits do not have to be delayed in November as a result of the government shutdown. More than 1 million people in Massachusetts use SNAP to buy food each month, and families will feel the impact immediately if benefits stop. This crisis is preventable. #ProtectSNAP #SNAPmatters
