In other news, the NYT continues to be a biased, piece of shit. Idk why people continue to be surprised.

My phone is blowing up with my family’s joyful affirmations about the 4th, and I just want to projectile vomit on all of them like Regan from the exorcist.

At least the Bush/Cheney warmongers went to Congress for authorization. Trump bombing Iran without congressional approval is illegal. Full stop.

But he’s never been held accountable for any of the illegal things he’s done in his life so why not drag us all down with him
If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

We are at war, as per credible reporting, because our President thought it looked cool on TV and didn’t want to miss out.

It's June 12th, Pulse Remembrance Day, and it's important to know that the City of Orlando has not delivered on the promises made to the families of the 49. No permanent memorial, no code violation inspection, no accountability.

The 49 deserve better.

I don’t want this to be true and I don’t say stuff like this because it makes me sound like a scold but I do think there is a lot of truth here and reading both Plato and Milton it has been on my mind: lack of self control seems like freedom but it’s actually enslaving yourself to your worst parts.
biggest divide in american politics is not between left or right. its between people who believe adulthood requires self-discipline and those who do not

I 100% get the “no kings” vibe, but Trump and Elon are giving Prince John and Sir Hiss— grasping, childish, usurping, scheming, petty little tyrants who troll the poor and working class to fill their coffers. Despite our distaste for monarchy, “No Kings” is too ennobling.

Angry, terrified, and frustrated. The reality is that I am an interesting person, a solid academic, and I have so many more things that could occupy my time and thoughts that lay outside “are Trump and Elon going to erase/criminalize/detransiton/kill us today?”
1,100 pieces against trans people in just 4 papers over 1 year. Almost 1 a day per paper. With absolutely no recourse at all. Is it any wonder that trans people are both angry and terrified?
Was actually wrong, I'm just two days away form having a full year's worth of stats.

It's going to come in at just under 1,100 articles about trans people in the Guardian, Times, Mail and Telegraph over that time, almost all attacks.

That's an ave of 3 a day every single day from just those papers

The SAVE Act, a.k.a the Save the Republicans' Asses Act, is a shameless attempt to block Americans—especially married women—from voting. Requiring birth certificates to cast a ballot? That’s not election security. That’s voter suppression.

why is *every* newspaper/programme running with the headline "tariffs are paused" when they haven't been.

What's happened is that every country (except China) gets a flat rate of 10% for 90 days.
