Before diagnosis I would at times force myself to read ‘difficult’ books or authors to prove I was capable of it and not as stupid as I felt, due to my ADHD problems with focus and distraction. I thought everyone had the same challenges. 🫣

”my ADHD makes it very difficult to read long portions of text (ie books). This, in and of itself, can make it hard to _fit in_ in library culture. I generally have not read the books that my peers have read for leisure reading.” 👀

I am not an early career teaching librarian, but as the author observes the “literature about ADHD in librarianship is very limited” and I am happy to see and read anything at all like this.
