I’m reading tarot at an event this week that is a fundraiser for The Equal Plates project. We trade things for free on Facebook marketplace. We have a phone tree for immediate mutual aid for anything. Etc. The point of this is: regular ass people can do big things. Local action is humble & potent

WNC is resilient & has not stopped in rebuilding what we want to see kept here. There is still so much to rebuild, heal, remove & rehabilitate. Small, localized & unconditionally supportive orgs like Beloved Avl are still active in taking care of our neighbors. I still volunteer for food rescue/

This was the holiday immediately post Hurricane Helene & our kids were displaced & out of school for weeks, no running water for months. Some lost their homes & pets to the flooding, all were affected by the trauma & uncertainty. This campaign, helped by some of you, was a success in mutual aid/
