The thing to understand about this is that this catastrophe in the UK has redounded to the political benefit of the very same people and political movement that pushed for it! Extremely perverse.

OK, well, that's not going to happen. Most people are going to forget about this in a few weeks and move on to the next thing, in the same way that the GOP base has hated Mitch McConnell for a decade but never actually hurt him.
