Dear God! Bragg as Director General...

I'd pay damn good money to see that.

He'll get over it. Sadly, he'll never get over himself.

Why 'incredible'?

When 75% of its senior positions are essentially political appointees put in place by some disastrous Tory leader or another, I would propose that BBC output is exactly as one might expect.

Divorced from reality. Devoid of intellect. Divisive in purpose and action.

Never underestimate either the influence of legacy media or the succeptibility to that influence of the ordinary person.

People don't like hearing it but it's true. The UK population is significantly manipulated by our media and political classes, and mostly seems not to notice.

In life, our natural talents shine through.

There's a reason the Tories buried Levison. Their mates own the media and they like it that way. It's worth plenty of seats to them (whatever costume they're currently wearing) and is an imbalance that Labour, had they any sense, would tackle.

Well he's never in Clacton....
November 26, 2025 at 11:40 PM
Undoubtedly true. One reason I think is that for many years Farage has been the only member of the too-far-right-to-be-funny group who can spend more than 30 minutes in front of a camera or mic and not come across as a fuckwit.

Not necessarily the BBCs job and I agree, but it's worth considering.

Are you asking these people to step outside their social circle and hobnob with the proletariat?

That would never do. The damage to their sense of superiority would be crushing.

Nigel used to like dogshit but he doesn't anymore because you rarely see a white one these days.

But most of all you need to not be a Russian asset...

It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people.
November 22, 2025 at 2:17 PM
I wouldn't assume the UK SSs are on 'our' side. I would refer you to 'The Wilson Plot' from the late 60s/early 70s. Still disputed (and of course denied by MI5) but I'm inclined to believe Wilson when he referred to two plots within military/SS circles to get him out.

It wants and needs the drama. Media has become an industry that peddles outrage and yellow journalism for the cash.

Nobody is fooled this is any kind of service to the public. it is instead a service to their owners, backers or influencers.

The last 45 years have essentially been an enormous political advertising campaign. It has been run for the benefit of 'the right people' and it's what we've watched all the family silver get sold for - to make politicians look good.
November 22, 2025 at 1:02 PM
Because they pay or arrange for all sorts of things that politicians like.

Exactly what seems to depend on the politician and their... hobbies, but one thing that doesn't change is that the general population is completely absent from the conversation.

Since all members of the EFTA have indicated that the UK is not welcome due to its size, the suggestion is unworkable. It might be nice but no go, sorry.

An independent Scotland by contrast, would be welcomed into the EFTA.

Those in the Labour left learned a while ago that if Starmer says X, you can expect Y to happen.

Let's face it, the man has impeccable form on not keeping his word.

Farage must be contributing to climate change more than a medium sized business.

I prefer 'Privileged Parasitic Entitlement' myself.
November 18, 2025 at 9:57 PM
'Deeply shocking' seems inappropriate in this case. 'As expected' seems far more accurate.
November 18, 2025 at 9:55 PM
Inspirational optimism. I think at this point we all want one.
November 18, 2025 at 9:53 PM
It is the nature of politics that people who aren't MPs put themselves forward for election and get made MPs if successful.

Until they have done that and been elected, criticising someone for not having a job they haven't applied for looks pretty stupid.

But you keep trying.
November 18, 2025 at 3:32 PM
Did nobody in Lib-Dem land think there could be a better candidate than a man who 'had a history of switching parties'?
November 13, 2025 at 12:20 AM
I think Starmer is so used to being given a brief and working it that in his role as PM he's just reading what's put in front of him.

He's not a political animal, he got into the game late, has no political instincts and lacks a huge amount of political general knowledge.
