Very left -no, further left than that. Started a theatre co. in SF; ran it for years and years. And years. And years. Directed, produced (shows & CDs),acted, & against my better judgment, sang. Charlie’s dog dad. She’s a girl (think Hitchcock).🏳️🌈🐶

At 62, she was the alternate for Aldonza in the '92 MOLM.
When Sheena Easton collapsed on stage, Joan finished the performance and took over the role. By most accounts she looked/sounded much as she had in '65. It became *the* performance "not to miss."

I know there was some sort of scandal when Joan was in the original London cast. I think she went to the South of France for her day off and wound up calling in for a couple of extra days r&r. When the London team found out, they fired her and sent her packing back to the US.

Bea Lillie did a summer run of High Spirits at Papermill in 1965. Carol Arthur as Edith was the only other person from the OBC to join Lillie.

That's right! I knew there was something. I think that must be what happened with Joice Heth. A great idea that just proved no longer viable when the time came.

Now that's a performance I would have loved to see. Supposedly her cognitive decline was evident but not extreme in 2016-17, so my guess is that she was going to do it, but ultimately had to withdraw (wasn't there also a play she ankled around the same time?).

I thought the name was familiar! She's really quite scary in Snow White, both as the Queen and the Witch.

It was actually the second revision. The first, a year earlier in Austin, had Julie White as Genevieve (Steve & Joe so impressed that they recommended her as understudy when I did the 1982 third revision.) I saw the Bakula version - it's where he met his 1st wife, Krista Neumann, his Genevieve.

When I saw the tryout run in SF, Dancing Through Life wasn't in the show yet. It was something called "Which Way's the Party?" and it was a stinker.

I did "Du Barry" in 1993, San Francisco. The audience gasped with delight at that lyric. The title song, which has nothing to do with the one written for the film, is really clever and unfortunately unknown. Too bad neither the Encores nor Chicago concert productions led to recordings.!
