Here's a cool photo that Polypane user Marcos sent us recently.

He has a Logitech Creative Console all decked out to quickly switch workspaces, layouts and to reload or open the command bar for more advances tasks. Such a nice productivity boost!

Should we make available a set of icons to use?

New in Polypane 26: all our devices emulate the correct `safe-area-inset-*` CSS environment variables, as well as the correct small viewport height.

Toggle the visualization from the emulation settings to see where they're located. Like browser UI the svh overlay scrolls away when you scroll down.

Here's a fun thing we snuck into the latest patch release: support for HTML comments in the elements panel!

Check out this lovely ASCII art on @sjoy.lol's website :)

Not every feature needs to be large to be useful.

Our target size tooling detects interactive elements that don't follow WCAG, Google Mobile Friendliness or Apple HIG guidelines. But sometimes that element might be behind our UI.

So in Polypane 25 we added a quick toggle to move it out of the way!

Our updated icon will feel right at home with Liquid Glass in light, dark and mono.

We like sweating the details.

Did you know for example that the Polypane Elements panel suggests CSS properties not alphabetically, but based on most common usage?

So when you type "c" you get "color", not "caption-side" and when you type "f" you get "font-size", not "fill".

Our rulers are getting a new measuring overlay.

Drag and measure an overlaid rectangle that show its dimensions and the distance to edges. Snaps to your guides while dragging.

Or use it as a selection to screenshot a specific area of the page.

Try it in our upcoming release!

We have Widevine DRM support in Polypane! Here's a screenshot of @netflix.com running in Polypane to prove it 😏

Yes, it's a black rectangle. The DRM works!

But trust me, I could see and hear Jamie Oliver. You can too, in the next full release.

Wanna hide some social media previews, or maybe just change the way they're sorted so the one you care about most is on top?

We got you.

Edit HTML directly from the elements panel, and Polypane will update your HTML in-place to maintain any event listeners you have attached to the DOM you just edited!

Need to debug a difficult z-indexing or stacking context issue? Turn on the 3D view to quickly see what's going on ...or to take a peek behind the curtain!
April 23, 2025 at 2:12 PM
And then when you're done, you can quickly trim, cut and annotate your video before exporting and sharing it.
April 23, 2025 at 2:12 PM
Some of the features, starting with video recording.

When you record a pane, we show a custom cursor that makes it easier to follow where your cursor is moving, and it also highlights clicks.
April 23, 2025 at 2:12 PM
I slept on it and the interaction where it just always followed the mouse didn't feel great. So now it's drag'n'drop and it's so much nicer.

Ever seen the back of a webpage?
April 10, 2025 at 8:01 AM
Coming soon: a new debug tool that transforms your page into a 3d view showing the elements that create new stacking contexts and have a specified z-index value.

The page remains fully interactive, click to toggle the 3d rotation for when you want to focus or interact.

We're continuously adding more linting across Polypane to help you build better websites.

In the upcoming release we'll automatically warn you when you're trying to add an accessible name to an element that doesn't support one.

...we got told to do better.

Color coded tabs ✅
March 13, 2025 at 3:44 PM
Did you ever waste time figuring out why your changes weren't showing up after refreshing the page? 😬

...yeah us neither. 🫠

Anyway, unrelated, the next release of Polypane will let you rename tabs. How cool is that!
March 13, 2025 at 12:34 PM
The social media card preview in Polypane is one of our most beloved features. ...But we totally get that you might want to hide some social media and put another one at the top 😉

Shipping in the next release: sortable and hide-able social media cards

The usual advice is to not make users cry, but we're still pretty happy with this testimonial we found in the wild!

Do you also want your a11y testing to be _almost_ enjoyable? Check out Polypane! 😏
