Rian Johnson uses sunlight -- either shining through windows and illuminating faces (usually Josh's) or dimming -- almost like an emotion, to reflect faith and purpose and story.

The ebb and glow doesn't happen in this scene but the emotion, that /Oh/ when it hits.

Amazing.
70% of this i think is that josh o’connor is a marvelous actor who really carries the thematic and emotional core of the story on his shoulders. there is one particular scene that i actually found genuinely moving.

for those who haven't seen the movie, o'connor has like three scenes you will think are the "one particularly scene" bouie references here. but then you'll come to the actual scene and it hits like a tidal wave.

As someone with misophonia -- 1) there is some mouth sounds, and you can hear the hollow chimp into the pumpkin, but 2) it's so damn cute!!

Chicago and where my parents live did get good amounts of snow (mom and I still did a 5K) and so yesterday, after the 5K, it was pretty low key and we watched a sweet/fun Christmas movie -- Jingle Bell Heist.

And now we're trying to plan when to drive back (and then work tomorrow 😭)

I am convinced that one reason why NPR’s Books We Love has been so successful is that while it allows you to filter in a bunch of ways, it also emulates elements of browsing. In its regular cover mode, it’s not a list, it’s an array, and when you refresh the page, it shuffles. (1/)
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

You really have to read this thread. The genius of Tom Stoppard, the fragility of memory, the magic of theatre — and the glorious stubbornness of a researcher who would not stop.
Eleven years ago, I wrote to Tom Stoppard to ask about this coup de théâtre from 1949. It took me down an unexpected rabbit hole - in memory of Stoppard, here's what I found.

Happy Thursday, ducks.

It's U.S. Thanksgiving here today and I'm grateful for you all; for the fandoms that have brought us together, that we share or that we share about; for the little and big things that make up this bubble.

You're amazing. Thank you for being you and being here.

Happy Wednesday ducks.

Bit of a later one today and I was traveling to visit family (again) the rest of the week.

I hope that your day, and tomorrow, has things and people that delight you and that you have an opportunity to do things that you want to do.

Be fabulous 😍

Good reminder!
It's also helpful when you put the tag at the beginning of your post, so people immediately know if they want to scroll away or read it.
Just a reminder to be courteous of people trying to avoid spoilers and be sure to tag your posts with the series or movie name.

That way they can mute the tag and enjoy the experience of watching at their leisure.

One of the best uses of "Under Pressure" *and* it's used diagetically!
One of my favorite movies of all time, no notes, could never get made/released today. What a cast, score by Joe Strummer, incredible soundtrack, written by a guy who worked at Big Lots.
Share a ‘90s movie that you think deserves more love
