I love finishing a library book, knowing that I can go pick up the next one in the series at the library tomorrow after work. One of life's true pleasures.

Governments are always keen to have reviews into benefits and overdiagnosis of mental health difficulties. But they always ignore every study that says 4 day weeks and UBI dramatically improve people's wellbeing and the economy.

In S17 of #Taskmaster, Nick Mohammed dressed as a vampire for his tasks. The production scrubbed all his reflections when he's dressed like this, but the only way I knew is because someone told me about it. It's subtle and very cool.

I wrote about #LongCOVID stealing my lifelong favorite hobby of cycling, learning that e-bikes aren't "giving up" or "cheating," and how riding with assistance gave me back one of the greatest joys of my life. bit.ly/48ohIH5

I have been looking forward to my work team's xmas party for ages—mystery activity followed by a white elephant gift exchange. The mystery activity was carpentry. I was stoked. But it was so hot, that as soon as I started sawing, I got dizzy and felt faint. Frustratingly, also started to cry.

Given the decision on puberty blockers, I do want to note an objective fact that I think has been lost:

Eight MPs voted to keep conversion practices legal.

All were National MPs.

*Every single one* of the five who remained in Parliament after the 2023 election was given a Ministerial warrant.

Started listening to the audiobook of All Together Now by Alan Doyle. He's a great narrator, and I was getting a rockstar version of Stuart MacLean vibe and settled in to listen to some yarns.

Then a story about a saw blade rigged up on a truck began...

Daily thought about writing novels

I’m glad I figured out that I actually make the book great when I revise it. My 1st draft is ideally a joyful race to the end, and to do that, I have to trust myself. But great ideas happen after that too! And they can’t happen until after the 1st draft is done.
