It’s kind of amazing how little Regarding Henry exists.

This quote really broke me.

Absolutely fantastic. Unquestionably one of my favorite films of the year. A brilliantly metatextual film about fathers & daughters, artistic integrity, grief, loneliness and how silly the movie business can be. See it on the big screen!

This is what I mean about overhyping. It’s good, but come on.

The Running Man is too long and unfortunately it expects too much of Glen Powell at this stage of his career. I really like him but he’s not there yet. The supporting cast is great and the action is fun. Probably my favorite Edgar Wright movie since Scott Pilgrim but that doesn’t say much.

This week on @podcastlikeits The 1990s Patreon I started a brand new miniseries on Mike Nichols 90s films by talking Postcards From The Edge with @carriecourogen.bsky.social! We talk Meryl, Mike, Carrie (Fisher), Gene and of course Debbie! Great movie! Great episode!

Hamnet is filled with wonderful performances, especially Jesse Buckley, it’s gorgeously made and emotionally powerful, not sure if it’s overhype but the overt Shakespeare elements bounced off me a little unfortunately. Still a beautiful film and hopefully it’ll grow on me more with future viewings.

“Nothing is lost forever. In this world there’s a kind of painful progress.”

I know it’s easy for me to quote this from my place of privilege in the current political landscape in America, but after last Tuesday, and rewatching Angels in America, I truly believe we can turn this around.

The bi-annual 50% off Criterion sale at Barnes & Noble started today and I needed this ASAP 🖤

This week on @podcastlikeits The 2000s @emilystjams.bsky.social and I jump back into our Mike Nichols miniseries to talk Angels in America: Millennium Approaches with Variety’s @adambvary.bsky.social! We discuss the play, its development history and the absolutely incredible cast.

Fully obsessed. It’s so great to have Vince Gillian back on TV. Don’t read anything just watch it. Two episodes are up right now.

Perfect. Give it to me now.

Unsurprisingly Amanda Seyfried is phenomenal and the musical sequences are truly fantastic. The film is powerful, harrowing and some of the things Ann endured will absolutely haunt me.

Like The Brutalist I don’t know how this was made for just $10 million dollars. Incredible filmmaking.

Very curious / excited for this.

You see it’s funny because The Last Jedi is the best modern Star Wars movie.
November 4, 2025 at 12:52 AM
I got this 4K during the recent @criterioncollection sale having not seen it since theatres but obviously liking it, and man, this movie rules. Pulpy but infused with Cronenberg’s brilliant dissection of the human condition, and of course his flair for violence. Plus the Cronenberg/Viggo begins!

Netflix promoting the gorgeous IMAX presentation of Frankenstein, and also distributing Narnia in IMAX proves, spoiler, movies look better in movie theatres. I know, it’s shocking!

This book is absolutely blowing me away. Part mystery, part environmental warning but perhaps more than anything gorgeous and haunting. When I’m not reading it, I can’t stop thinking about it.
