As long as it can reach 2000°f you can make low fire non food items. Which would be low fire temps. Research safety for clay and kilns in the home as well. My kiln is technically meant for over glazes and glass work but it reaches low fire temps. But most importantly have fun!

Hand building is great but wheels exist such as Vevor brand. Knowing it might not last forever but can get you access to learning on a wheel at home. For a pretty accessible cost considering how expensive kilns and wheels can be.
