#BloodySunday black people trying to register to vote were beaten with clubs wrapped in barbed wire. Their nonviolent protest eventually turned the tide. We honor their sacrifice & courage

We commemorate #BloodySunday in 1965 when people who simply wanted the right to vote crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, AL on their way to the courthouse in an effort to register. They were met with weapons and fire hoses.
