Mildly bemused engineer, also husband, father, railwayman. Definitely liberal and drifting leftward on a daily basis. He/Him
Basically when tech companies sell us robots 9 times out of 10 it is someone from a poorer country wrapped in tinfoil saying “beep beep”

I saw a few of these in Milton Keynes and, like most “robots” they are remote controlled from a service centre in a country with fewer workers rights whenever it needs to do something more complicated than follow an unobstructed pavement.

But if a petty useless middle manager can’t dangle the threat of instant dismissal in front of their employees they just get sad, shrivel up and die. Apparently this is a bad thing.

But you mute the volume and sing the great theme instead right?

A point I’ve heard and seems to fit is that they have the choice to admit that the general soft right Thatcherite consensus is wrong and they were wrong to push it or burn everything and never admit to being wrong and they picked option 2

Start downing a bottle of spirits while making eye contact and then start slurring randomly about perspective. Throw up on the paper, shout “Jackson Pollock” and pass out. You have fulfilled drink and draw.

We know the solutions, they are solved problems with the major drawback that they may slightly reduce the chance for a small number of people to make quite so much money so they will use pie in the sky bullshit like this to divert any meaningful change for another few years

Geoengineering to prevent climate change is really useful as if someone proposes using geo engineering to mitigate climate change you automatically know they have absolutely nothing useful to bring to the discussion and indeed most likely any discussion.

There’s a podcast I listen to that generally covers Disney channel original movies that covered this (mom can’t cook) and they flagged up that exact thing. I think they are trying for unworldly but for some reason it comes across as childlike and makes everything a bit icky

I would guess the reason is something boring like a marketing person said they needed one in every colour, but I’d quite like it to be that the designer only had black and white photos and so made their best guess

Same, which was great, and I have seen TMP on the big screen where it really shines, but I’ll never be able to have that quantum leap in visuals.

I would kind of loved to have been a fan who has only seen TOS on a small 60s TV to suddenly see the Enterprise in its full glory on a giant cinema screen.

I’d be genuinely interested in how that came about, was it a concept that got the FF label slapped on? Was there an FF script that got binned by an overzealous producer who wanted to “elevate the source material” I’d love to know
