Public seating: it's great!

In the last local election, I pledged to deliver more benches for Dublin 8. Now we've rolled out 12 new ones, with more to come.

Anywhere in Dublin city you'd like to see a bench? Drop me a message or leave a comment.

Car insurance costs are up 9%, yet profits are down.

The way we have set up insurance in Ireland is mad, leading to high legal costs and inconsistent payouts. It leaves consumers paying way over the odds.

Time for some reforming zeal from government!

73 bus update: I just got an email from GoAhead today: they're going to be reinstating the Hybreasal bus stops on the SCR. Keep the feedback coming
October 30, 2025 at 5:26 PM
10 days of the 73 bus. 10 days since the end of the 123.

Thanks for all the feedback so far - keep it coming! I'll be packaging it up and presenting it the bus company and National Transport Authority in a few weeks.

The 73 bus is now up and running. RIP the 123.

I'm keen to hear and gather feedback on the route, particularly on the new stops, which I'll be passing on to the NTA and GoAhead.

Let me know how you're finding it so far by comment below, direct message, or email [email protected]

Last night in Dublin City Council we started the process of zoning more land for housing.

The crazy thing: bad national policy means that there is an artificial max limit on how much land we can zone for housing.

If we tried to zone much more, we'd be legally prevented. Mad.

Dublin's 123 bus is changing on Oct 19th.

It's becoming the 73, with a new company running it, similar frequency, and a new route - particularly in the city centre.

Electric taxi grants are really effective: they target some of the most heavily used vehicles on our roads.

The grants are always oversubscribed: the @greenpartyie.bsky.social is calling for the budget to be doubled.
October 4, 2025 at 1:53 PM
Probably the most important thing the government could do this budget? Start saving.

Deeply unsexy policy, I know, but I've seen first hand what happens when a government just spends everything immediately - without looking to future crises and the threat of climate change.

A big blanket VAT cut? It's a bad idea. Better to give smarter, more targetted supports for cafes and restaurants.

We've set out a way to give more to small businesses while spending about a third of what the government are planning.

Be smart: do more, spend less!

Councillors had to fight to secure a pitch for Marrowbone Lane in Dublin 8.

We used our zoning powers to do it: I'm really glad that things are moving forward now, but want to be clear: we won't be rezoning the site until we're happy that a suitable pitch is being delivered.

Free public transport for under 9s.

The @greenpartyie.bsky.social fought for it, got the budget for it, and now it's done.

Construction now underway on Dublin's newest bridge, from the War Memorial Gardens to the northside.

Bike bunkers for Dublin!

Progress: contracts are signed with Bleeper Bike to provide 300 of them across the city. It's been an inexcusably long wait, but glad that it *finally* moving forward.

The road between Islandbridge and Chapelizod can be huge hassle to cross.

New plans should be announced soon, but the local Green councillors are hoping to see pedestrian crossings, better resurfaced bike lanes, an end to ugly bollards, and safer junction design.

There's a real cowardice and dishonesty in Irish politics around taxation.

Even in our small-scale debates in Dublin City Council, you could see it clearly.

Corporation tax revenue won't stay high like this forever, and our political system hasn't got our tax base ready for it.

✅ Pledge fulfilled

Prior to the election, we pledged to fund public services and end Dublin city's bizarre local property tax cut.

We've done that tonight, raising €65m+ for fixing roads, tackling dereliction, insulating homes, and new zebra crossings.

Tonight the Greens are ending a bad tax cut in Dublin City Council. We want to invest instead.

We'll be raising money to insulate social housing, bring derelict properties into use, offer pprenticeships, and build zebra crossings.

Fixing Dublin = Investing in Dublin
