I finished assembling a chapbook of poems written while living nomadically in NM, CA, OR, and other parts Western. It’s heavy on long poems, in the model of Basho’s travelogue haibun, centered around the Great Basin region. It’s titled “Basin & Range,” and features poems in two forms I invented.

Possibly the greatest Xmas meme ever.

If it has to be so damn cold as it is in Wisconsin this week, there should at least be mountains and glaciers. Makes me want to be back in Wyoming with my beloved Grand Tetons.

Heavy Surf

A painting made because I had a bad night and PTSD and little sleep and pissed off, so I needed to do something halfway worthwhile to break my bad mood.

Post a book you love from the 80s. No explanations, no reviews, just covers.

Hi, it’s Bandcamp Friday again, when Bandcamp waives their fees and more cash goes to the artists.

I have lots of albums for you of music in many styles, if you are interested.

And thanks to everyone who has previously bought some of my music!

Link is in the first comment and my bio. Thanks!

Today is Bandcamp Friday!

That’s when Bandcamp waives their usual processing fees, so more cash goes directly to the artist.

Submitted for your pleasure, an album of instrumental Xmas music both modern and Medieval, played solo on the NS/Stick.

“All Is Calm, All Is Bright”

Warren Ellis is officially my favorite writer in comics, tied with Chris Claremont and Grant Morrison.

I love the work of other great writers and artists, too, of course. This exalted status s based on what I go back to re-read periodically.

Rewatching NUMB3RS now that I have the compleat series on DVD. I was only missing season 5. This show was so well done, well written, well acted. The generally understated acting tone heightens realism. The character interaction moments likewise. Quiet but deep.

This evening I taught Intro to Bookbinding at Whitewater Makerspace, to about a dozen people. I’m riding the high of teaching a successful class. People seemed to really have fun, and I enjoyed teaching and chatting with everyone. In exactly two hours, we made two books: a simple sewn-binding 1/

Staying indoors today, with the long snowstorm blowing outside and promising several inches, I finished the basic layout of my proposed chapbook of queer, homoerotic, and homosocial sonnets. I started writing sonnets just a handful of years ago, during the early COVID pandemic, after having been 1/

Spent the morning compiling another chapbook of my poems that likely no one wants. I know the world is highly distracted right now, but people forget that art brings us the soul element in life that is the reason we want to keep going. I make a lot of art no one wants. Some days I wonder why bother.

Can’t say I had a good day or that the food we cooked was either. In fact, it tipped me over into the pit of existential despair that life has become as venality lives in the White House. It’s hard to be in the mood when the world is crashing around us.

Mark Kelly being targeted by the vindictive and incompetent current administration is hilariously going to fail, but still waste plenty of taxpayer dollars.

RELEASED: Sixteen Strings!

A tribute to my pal Ron Jones, poet, raconteur, founder of Avatar Review. These tracks are from a live webcast concert Ron and I did together from a living room in 2002. It is purely improvised music, a conversation between Ron's slide guitar and my Chapman Stick.

Woke up at 3am in massive pain. Fibromylagia is FUN. I’ve slept all morning and rested all day, feel slightly better. But it’s a Forced Rest day.

Still, I have remastered a short EP duo album recorded 20 years ago on 4-track cassette. Haven’t heard this music for years. Alien blues. Good sounds.

Now that I’ve done cleaning and organizing chores for a couple of hours, I’m taking a break to draw. Listening to one of my favorite jazz albums while drawing n^des.

This is a materials and handmade book display that I set up as a marketing photo shoot for the class on bookbinding I plan to teach. When the time and date are announced, I’ll post them. The two blank books on the upper left I made just now for this photo. I love making handmade books.
