Day 1 of the first test from Perth. An "exciting" start to the series.

Back to photos; here is one from Lytham last week. Dark clouds, only 3pm, 12 hours of rain just starting ... and these lights stood out.
HP5+ @1600. 50mm lens.

Lytham - the seafront landmark.
There was thick, even cloud. I did not attempt either in camera, or darkroom to get any cloud definition.

I posted the 5x7 earlier .... an example of HP5 pushed 2 stops. FX39 II.
I chose to print it at A4, but over printed it by 10 or 15%. It was dark and muddy.
Rather than use another sheet, I gave it a wash in Pot Ferri.
Clarity and warmth. 🙂

So, two 5x7's.
Left - most of the neg, grade 2 straight, guessed exposure.
Seems good tones, contrast etc with hardly any grain.
Right - I then made an enlargement. About to 18x12.
Wow. HP5 pushed 2 stops.

I developed a roll of @ilfordphoto.com HP5+ pushed 2 stops to 1600 ISO using FX39 II @ 1:9 for 24 mins.
My first time this combo.
@tomnorthfilm.bsky.social asked what I thought?
Seems clean and contrasty with smooth transitions.

Last week we went to a gig in Lytham, making a break of it with a B&B overnighter.
No light on Wed with thick clouds and rain, so I loaded HP5+ pushed to 1600 ASA.
The next morning - all change, with buckets more light!
Having a Nikon F90X with such fast shutter speeds really helps.
Dev in FX-39 II.
36 x 135 bulk HP5 developed negatives in a clear acetate sleeve .... with appropriate tech info and dates also annotated.

Strolling really early with quite low light levels .... but enough to illuminate this table.

A table and 2 chairs, outside of a closed and empty bistro / café ..... that is glass fronted, dark and moody with just a pair of highlights inside.

I only managed 4 frames on 6 Sept with my "half frame" 645 camera for #wwhfpd25. The film then sat in camera until late Oct. I finally finished it, dev and printed 2 days ago.
Here is a 10x8.

One from yesterday's print session.
(I posted this 20 mins ago ... photo from my phone. When I looked on my tablet, it was awful - soft from "phone shake"! Deleted. Hopefully this is better).
Exp 2004 T Max 100.

BnW. A track for farm vehicles runs away from the camera, with a wooden fence on the left of it. There are oak trees in the field to the left, and a wooded hillside in the distance. Strong, late afternoon October sun illuminates from the left - so there are shadows from the fence and trees.

I think I will muddle around in my darkroom today - I have a couple of newly developed films to contact and consider.
In the meantime .... here is an oldie from my stash.

I was recently out for a walk in a local deer park. I was not seeing any photographs .... then happened upon this tree. I think it is a horse chestnut (I was paying more attention to framing and exposure than species type).
HP5+. 50mm lens.
