And I can respect that kind of convoluted nonsense. I hope some scientist names a newly discovered species of dog after the Lycos search dog and completes the cycle.

... that it then became the name of their mascot dog, who went out and fetched search results for users. So, I guess the dog (a creature known to be a helpful seeker of objects) was just named after a pet name for a family of spiders who were part of a bizdev/tech pun.
