It’s a damn shame that they’re allowed to exploit workers for their own benefit. If they can’t control their own greedy impulses, then we need a plan to TAX THE RICH.

This is bitter sweet. I’m so grateful to CA voters, and yet so sad that it came to this.

I am proud to live in a state where we had to vote and choose whether we wanted to gerrymander ourselves.

Texans didn’t get that choice. We’ll see how they respond next year.

Protesting the holocaust of Palestinian civilians is not antisemitic, it’s anti-Netanyahu. Are you beholden to people who support genocide?

Margaret Sanger was a nurse and feminist. Sick of seeing women suffering after miscarriages and botched abortions, Sanger founded Planned Parenthood and sought to spread the word about birth control.

She published a pamphlet, called the Woman Rebel, and sent it by mail to challenge the Comstock Act

Bella de Costa Greene was the collector and first director of the Morgan Library & Museum.

She turned J.P. Morgan’s private collection into a public resource and treasure.

Sylvia Rivera was a trans and gay liberation activist.

She cofounded STAR (Street Trans… Action Revolutionaries) with her best friend, Marsha P. Johnson, to help support young LGBTQ+ people and get them off the streets.

Rivera also spoke out for trans equality within the greater LGBTQ+ community.

Ida Tarbell was a progressive muckraker in the Gilded Age, although she preferred to be called a Historian.

Her investigation of J.D. Rockefeller’s Standard Oil Company led to stronger anti-trust laws to limit corruption and protect the consumer.

Hardly any updates on those laws since… no wonder..

Jane Addams was a progressive social reformer and activist in the Gilded Age.

She focused on improvements for women, children, and immigrants.

When she noticed children playing on piles of trash, she appointed herself as Chicago’s first Garbage Inspector!

Addams founded Hull House in 1889.

Lucy Burns was a woman’s rights activist and another “radical suffragist”.

Lucy Burns worked closely with Alice Paul to create the National Women’s Party, which was instrumental in getting the 19th Amendment passed (woman’s suffrage).

Frances Perkins was the Secretary of Labor to FDR, she was the first female cabinet member.

Frances Perkins helped to create many New Deal Programs, including Social Security. She advocated for better pay and working conditions along with FDR.

She identified as both a feminist and a revolutionary!

Alice Paul was considered a radical suffragist in the U.S. in the early 1900s.

She suffered many injustices after being arrested for peacefully protesting outside of the White House.

She was instrumental in passing the 19th Amendment (1920), which affirmed the right to vote for *many* women.

Victoria Woodhull was a spiritualist, a feminist, and an activist for equal rights.

She ran for President with the Equal Rights Party in 1872, 48 years before the woman’s suffrage Amendment (19). Her running mate was Frederick Douglass, which was a surprise to him.

Dorothy Pitman Hughes was an activist for children’s welfare and a feminist in the women’s liberation movement, and beyond.

Zephyr Wright was the personal chef and friend to President Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) and Lady Bird Johnson.

Mrs. Wright was a civil rights activist and shared her experiences in the Jim Crow Era with LBJ, pushing him to do more for Black Americans, and holding him to a high standard.
