The climate crisis & inequality. Married, two kids. Lifelong NYCer.

With nychange.bsky.social, directing climate/jobs campaigns. We get wins via people power. Previous: 10 yrs CWA D-1, 7 yrs NYPIRG. On climate only, my takes are NYCC “official”. 🇵🇸
Cool to see the cable-laying ship on the hudson for the CHPE project yesterday from the train I was on.

The project is a big transmission cable that will bring over 1,000 mw of hydropower from Canada to NYC. (That’s a lot!)

It’ll lower utility bills, create jobs and slash pollution.

The career incentives for this guy are all there. An illustrious career of slagging the public’s interest will be rewarded with either advancement in the industry or a quick exit to well-compensated corporate PR or other flack work.

Today’s msm doesn’t just ignore the climate crisis bearing down on us: it writes propaganda pieces for corporate interests.

It covers for pols like Hochul who increase bills & speed catastrophe by doing the bidding of oil & gas interests.

👍👍👍

Great news media - not the usual propaganda from the msm - is very important!

It’s very funny how in public Hakeem Jeffries is like c’mon tough guys bring it on, but then behind the scenes like any elected pol desperately wants to avoid a serious primary battle. 🧵

Maybe the most cost-sensitive industry in the universe - restaurants - use heat pumps primarily. Tell me again they’re not practical and too expensive lol.

It’s good the AOC of 2018 didn’t listen to the AOC of 2025
November 18, 2025 at 12:46 PM
lol none of this matters.

Lee Zeldin snuck up on a (typically) comatose Hochul in a 💯 favorable political environment and he *still lost* by 6 points. Now, Trump is psycho unpopular and in the White House and it’s a deep blue state.

The real race is the primary. Delgado!

@cityandstateny.bsky.social’s loser of the week is Hochul’s NY DEC commissioner Amanda Lefton.

Richly deserved, since she’s governing like a gas lobbyist.

Tho ofc from her perspective, she’s not a loser: she’ll be able to claim extra-lucrative, easy pay-off jobs after this “gig”. Resign!
November 14, 2025 at 12:49 PM
Live shot of the Hochul hacks at the NYS energy plan meeting:

NY DEC commissioner Lefton
NYSERDA president Harris
NYS PSC chair Christian

The big challenge of their job?

Appearing properly concerned for consumers & the environment as they govern like gas lobbyists. Resign!

Adding a bike lane in place of a car lane on Court Street in Brooklyn has been GREAT. One reason is that on that side of the street, we’re no longer penned in by a wall of car. Instead. It’s a much nicer sidewalk space where the occasional bike goes by. It’s super nice!

It turns out Trump really is committed to fighting climate change. A hyper committed radical degrowther! 😂😂😂

👀 Maybe we’re starting to win (again) on stopping the Williams fracked gas pipeline.

Ads up. Trump tweeting. The gas interests must be nervous Hochul may oppose it. 😃

Meanwhile, we’re on our way to getting 5k voters on a pledge not to vote for Hochul in the primary if she sides with Trump. 💪 👀

@governor.ny.gov Hochul should tell Trump to go hell: #NoTrumpPipelines.

Yet instead, she’s been fast tracking the massive Williams NESE fracked gas project through a NY permitting process the state previously rejected. 😡

She should stop it, not raise our bills & pollute!

There is a wide open and fast lane for political candidates and politicians who are anti-AI and anti-tech companies/social media.

I would vote hard for a candidate like that, even as I use social media a lot.

(The image is a subway ad for some book I probably won’t read)

Today, NYC floods from another climate change-fueled storm.

And city govt’s 2nd largest money manager goes backward on climate.

@bradlander.bsky.social could have done something about the later, and moved global finance, possibly prevented this move… but for 4 years he’s been all talk.

The independent expenditure committee I run, Livable Future, affiliated with @nychange, is canvassing on cutting energy costs & pollution in Wakefield in the Bx to elect Mamdani.

Mostly 1-2 family homeowners. Primarily African-American & Caribbean-American voters.

Results👀👍😃

Their stuff is a series of crazy lies and giant misstatements. Start to finish in their flyer, which you can see below.

That’s just one slice of what we’re up against in terms of real estate and right wing attacks. We’re being outspent like 100:1 or a 1000:1!
