At the same time, I know it's unfair to the people affected and I know it's important to keep pushing - Because we also don't want to be pushed back in the other direction. Of course I know that. But it would be so nice to take a break.

Because so much of bigotry is fear of the unfamiliar. Humans often become screeching monkeys devoid of reason when confronted with something uncomfortable.
Maybe we ought to try introducing things to them like we're giving a cat a new kind of food. IDK.
