YouTube lets you control who can comment on your videos and Shorts on individual videos. You can limit comments to subscribers and paid Members of your channel.
You can set the minimum subscription time to 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week or any duration.

From the YouTube Support article about comment settings: You can also choose to limit who can comment to only subscribers and paid members of your channel. After turning your comments on, tap the Who can comment drop down and select Subscribers and members. You can then set a minimum subscription time by tapping the Minimum subscription time dropdown. The options are: Any duration, 1 hour, 1 day, and 1 week. Note: Limiting comments to subscribers and members is not available at the channel-level. To apply this setting to multiple videos at once, learn more about bulk edits. Note: Comment settings for individual videos are in the Video Details > Show More in YouTube Studio or in the YouTube mobile app by clicking the gear on the Comments tab for one of your videos.

You (or a mod) can now pin a post in your YouTube Community. Currently only on mobile; coming to desktop soon.

Other recent Community updates:

To pin a post in your YouTube Community: 1. Open your Community on your channel. Currently pinning is only available in the mobile app, but will be coming to desktop too. 2. Find the post you want to pin, then click the 3 dot menu icon at the top right of the post. You can pin your own post or a viewer's post. 3. Select the Pin option on the menu that appears.

YouTube is expanding access to automated pre-publication checks for Community Guidelines violations.
This is similar to checks for copyright issues.
If the video is flagged you’ll have the option to make changes to the video before publishing (or you can publish as-is).

To help you avoid the frustration of a removal or strike, we've been testing a new feature that checks for some Community Guidelines violations in the video upload flow, similar to Copyright and Advertiser-friendly Guidelines checks. We’re excited to share that we’ll be expanding on this experiment to a larger group of creators.

YouTube is experimenting with "Your Custom Feed". If you see a "Your Custom Feed" chip at the top of the Home tab, click it and then you can update the recommendations you see with a simple prompt.

[November 24, 2025] Testing “Your Custom Feed”: We’re experimenting with a new feature called "Your custom feed," that lets you customize recommendations for your Home feed. If you are part of the experiment, you will see “Your Custom Feed” appear on your Home page as a chip besides “Home”. When you click into it, you can update your existing Home feed recommendations by entering a simple prompt. This feature is designed to give you an easy-to-use way to have more control over your suggested content. If you see it, check it out and share your feedback!

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.
A Twitter account called Ivanka News tweets an AI image of a young woman wearing Muslim garb. The woman is holding a sign that says "I came here illegally. Should I be deported?" Ivanka News writes: What is your response to this person ?? In the "About this account" tab, it appears the account is based in Nigeria An account called MAGA scope writes: Who, in your view is the great enemy of the United States? Communism, Islam, Democratic Party, or Satan? The account is based in Nigeria. An account called MAGA Nadine writes: You go to work and find this. What would you do? The attached pic is an AI image that shows a microwave. The microwave has a sign that says "For religious reasons, this microwave is now making halal food only." The account is based in Morocco. An account called America First posts an AI image of Tulsi Gabbard. They wrote: How would you rate your trust in Tulsi Gabbard on a scale of 1-10?
