Yep. And he gave a series of concessions. Pathways, for eg. is now conditional on the pipeline being built. There's no private sector proponent willing to build a pipeline. So forget about carbon capture: that's dead in the water. I see appeasement and little thought to the future implications.

Here's another one: Pathways is going nowhere unless that pipeline is built. So all the gushing I heard yesterday about how Alberta will be a leader in carbon capture is moot: the consensus is that there is no private proponent for this pipeline and it will never be built.

Here's one of the issues with an MOU that wasn't signed by BC: Alberta and Canada agree that BC will lead consultations with First Nations in BC ("engagement"). Nothing like agreeing a third party will do something it hasn't agreed to do and wasn't consulted about.

This comment, and the way First Nations were not consulted about the MOU this week, are the kinds of issues I raise as part of the plot of my latest book, THE BONE-FINDER, except it's a lithium mine in Northern Ontario ....

Direct quote from BMO Capital Markets managing director. So he's okay with plowing through the habitat of endangered species and digging up graveyards?

Looking forward to curling up in front of the fire tonight and tomorrow with these two books. I got to know Wayne Ng and Katie Tallo at last Sunday's Crime for Christmas event and I'm looking forward to reading their work! I think Phoebe approves of these purchases! Shop Local!

Not that you *need* another incentive to go to Mansfield's Shoes this Sunday, the first Sunday since August that it's been open, but I will be there to sign books and I will be handing out these packages of home made chalk outline/sugar/gingerbread cookies to the first 30 shoppers through the door!

Really wonderful feedback from a happy reader, an ex-cop who just finished reading SHADOW PLAY! The "Gary" he is referring to is Gary Tyo, a retired Ottawa police detective, who helped me with some of the technical aspects of the book. You can order your copy exclusively at reboundpress.com!

I will be at Mansfield's Shoes this Sunday around 10 a.m. to sign books. Who's coming? Pick up some nice socks and a great book to cozy up with, or as Christmas gifts -- I might even have a couple of gift baskets left to bring with me!

Sorry, that should say 2012, not 2017. He wrote it in THE INCONVENIENT INDIAN:

He was fully aware of the 15 rolls. My guess is that he knew his father's family/name wasn't on them, given his comments. Here's what he said then:

Another happy reader! This one read CAPITAL CRIMES before he read MIDNIGHT IN HAVANA but he enjoyed MIDNIGHT IN HAVANA anyway. He'll be reading HUNGRY GHOSTS next!
