Stop letting unfunny men tell you there’s something wrong with you for not getting their “jokes”. Stop fake laughing. Let their reality reflect the truth of how fundamentally they misunderstand humor. Neuter their ability to use “it was a joke” for emotional cover. Make them see nobody laugh.

I thought because I wasn’t looking away from the scenes of horror and death, it couldn’t be more confronting.
I was wrong.
Seeing a mother holding her dead child is confronting. But interacting with a mother whose children could be next? That’s something else entirely.

I honestly think this is why a lot of people think they are scams- it is very difficult to reckon with the idea that you can talk to a person in the midst of a genocide.
But to be honest I truly think that doing this is a way to stay connected with your own humanity.
