I just heard the famous @ohmcore.bsky.social get a shout out on CBC As It Happens!
I was interviewed by CBC about a remarkable discovery made by a local snorkeller in Halifax — a population of the incredible photosynthesizing sea slug, Elysia chlorotica or the Eastern emerald elysia. Canada’s biodiversity never ceases to leave me in awe. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
A rare photosynthesizing sea slug has been found off N.S. Here's why scientists are excited | CBC News
Researchers believe Elysia chlorotica holds promise for medical advances, but it's been too elusive to study.

Patient came in with sore throat. While waiting for rapid Strep test result we glanced back at the Covid-19 RAT result: positive. Reminder that masking in health care makes sense, if you don’t want everyone in your waiting room to go home sick, your staff to get sick, and physicians to get sick.

This live version of American Woman by The Guess Who playing on CFCR right now is pretty wild. It's my new favourite version. It's been rocking on the air for maybe 10 minutes so far. I'm just waiting to hear what album it's from.

I did see a few critters and plants today during my walk in the nearby urban park. I didn't try to catalogue *everything* I saw or I would still be out there.

The first bird spotted and identified on our trip to Costa Rica! Passer domesticus, the house sparrow 🤣

In 1972, Nina Kuscsik was the first woman to enter the New York City Marathon. The male-dominated establishment that oversaw races at the time claimed women risk infertility and could even lose their uteruses by running marathons, but Nina was one of many who proved them wrong.

Dammit.

I'm on uncle duty this weekend. Brought my nephew to his hockey tournament while his parents are away. He zonked just before the end of the 10th inning.

My current favourite punctuation mark is the interrobang. If I'm posting a question on social media, odds are high that I am doing so to express my incredulity.

What do mean you don't want to go for a 120 km bike ride after work‽

CWD is arguably the greatest wildlife management failure in North America. Top ten for sure.
