We surely didn’t have the money to promote my book the way the GOP promoted anti-trans rhetoric, but if you’re interested, I hope you’ll take the time to read the stories of these trans kids and the research examining trans-inclusive policies: a.co/d/fUVm5zh

What truly sets Streetwise apart is how they invite some of the most excluded people in society to take ownership of opera, an art form often seen as reserved for the privileged. By doing so, they not only transform lives, but redefine who opera is for and how society views homelessness.

Really sad to hear of the death of John Prescott, my former boss at the then Department of the Environment. He was highly intelligent, no-nonsense, and didn’t miss a trick. Drafting legislation for him was exacting, and his appetite for a roast dinner legendary.

Disappointingly predictable to see people using the ‘Captain Tom’ débacle to slag off all charity leaders who are ‘paid too much, should be sacked’ etc.
No. They’re not. The VCSE is an increasingly critical element in the health & care system. I’m privileged to work with some of the best.

I remember enjoying the long, sloping hill down to the sea in the distance. What a beautiful setting there. I will have to check out the restos next time I visit.

Such stories of optimism and impact, despite the challenges in the system. Proud to be supporting these leaders improving population health in GM.
Good to be back in Manchester, delivering the final session in the GM Improving Population Health programme alongside @weirb.bsky.social + @kenperry447.bsky.social. Many thanks to everyone who came along, and to Mark Brown and Dr Muna Abdel Aziz for making it happen 😃

Only, I’ve got lots of lovely ones and friends I rarely see but want to stay connected to, and email isn’t very festive.

“I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking.”

Engage with trans people & actual experts If you want to find out about trans issues

You would not ask a poet or comedian about medical issues, just as you should not listen to the the fantasy writings of fantasy writers on trans people.

Kodi’s #psychiatry fact of the day: there’s no evidence gender-affirming testosterone causes mania

The idea is from case reports of body builders (way higher doses than gender-affirming care)

Don’t stop people’s hormones based on weak science. Treat mania as you normally would

I will continue to support my wonderful trans friends, but I will not be giving these bigots the oxygen to spread their nonsense in my replies.

They will be blocked and reported.

Kodi’s #psychiatry fact of the day: if you’re trying to change your sleep schedule - move your wake up time, not the time you go to bed

Trying to go to bed earlier usually results in lying in bed awake and frustrated. Change wake up time, and the bedtime will shift. #insomnia
