In her case, she’s a nurse in a non-emergency, outpatient based specialty but she put her name forward to help. We’re very proud of her. I think we as a nation have forgotten the sacrifices so many people made during the pandemic. We owe these people so much and need to do so more.

For those only familiar with the author from her character in the opera or movie, the Helen Prejean we meet through her book may surprise you. In particular, her emphatic use of quantitative data to underpin and reinforce an emotional, human-centric personal narrative is exemplary.
