He’s the author of several wonderful picture books with more on the way. And, because I appreciate him so much, I’ll refrain from mentioning that the University of Wisconsin-Madison football team beat University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign last night. 4/4

Just this week, Malcolm also sent me this pic of ONE CAN BE displayed at this year’s @ncte.org conference that he attended, and I did not. 3/4

Malcolm and I first met at an Andersons Bookshop
Children’s Literature Breakfast when we signed books next to each other and took a selfie that, sadly, cut off part of his face.

When Jo’s not being helpful, she’s writing books — middle grade, young adult and picture. She also teaches in the MFA program at Southern New Hampshire University.

Janet believes all stories should bring joy. And that sharing stories spreads joy. She also sent me a picture of nearby kids enjoying books from her new LFL including ONE CAN BE.

Janet not only writes books for kids, but also leads classes to help others do the same. 2/2

Jenn’s books have received the @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social Schneider Family Honor, the Schneider Family Award, and the Theodore Geisel Honor.

She’s also parachuted off a mountain. (Yes, really.) And rafted an underground river to see the famous glow worms of New Zealand.

And @kendahenthorn.bsky.social added ONE CAN BE and her own book, BAA BAA TAP SHEEP, to a LFL in Mustang.

ONE CAN BE, a book about LFLs has now been added to LFLs in 22 states. 28 to go!

It was inspired by a high school teacher I know who shared books during the pandemic to stay connected. Kids want to tell me all about Little Free Libraries near them.

Eliza is the illustrator-author of NYT-bestselling MISS MAPLE’S SEEDS. Like me, she grew up in Wisconsin. Then she lived in LA, and now Minnesota. Her talent always amazes me.
