It's like they never left the early Obama years.

I think it's hilarious.

And, yes, I am fully aware that I'm saying all this on social media. Bluesky, however, is all I have, and I post rarely. I also do things. I, in fact, touch grass, and you all should, too. It's wonderful.

Pols have labeled a lot of real shit as distractions, but the real distraction is social media. Musk, Zuck, Dorsey, the GOP, Bezos, etc., want you to waste your time using social media because that is less time you are actually doing something. They want you to yell at clouds and call it fighting.

My mom constantly replies to GOP politicians on Fakebook, saying she is fighting fascism one comment at a time. NO! You're not! Those pols aren't real! They set up an account and left it to a bot. They don't exist on Fakebook. You're arguing with a bot. That's not fighting fascism.

I left Fakebook because nothing was real. Absolutely nothing. It is AI slop and scams all the way down. My mother lives on Fakebook and she fell for obvious AI slop. My dad is constantly watching scam videos. My mom has fallen down the fake news story rabbit hole.

Yes. I've seen that, too. Assuming he's been truthful, he needs to put in the work rather than skip the line. I also don't care that he is upper-middle class. As the author said, so was FDR. But FDR didn't pretend to be blue-collar.

That's a good point. By purist I meant those who refuse to support anyone who hasn't been 100% on board since they were lowly sperm fighting the tyranny of the uterus to get that egg. I find them annoying as hell.

That is, of course, my historian-pilled brain at work. Avoid generalizations because they can undercut your argument. Define everything and cite individual arguments as representations of larger trends.

Agree. I'm not sure it's necessarily helpful to identify particular groups when discussing Platner; his cosplay working-class act is enough. I would prefer citing individuals and their arguments for or against Platner as examples of the larger views within the larger liberal/progressive/left.

Leftists seem to have a natural skepticism that, for some, veers into purism. Some liberals and many progressives latched onto Platner initially, but have stepped back after the revelations while still flirting with him. There is, also, the Fetterman debacle, which no one wants to relive.

I'm fine with the "online left" framing because much of his support has been expressed by a large swath of them. I do feel, however, that "online left" is a rather nebulous term that should be much more defined. That said, the larger "online left" has defended the man.
