This space reminds me of the Mosaic district in Fairfax County Virginia, it became the model for many mixed used developments across the country. People are desperate for a sense of interaction and a common space for gathering in their community.

Friends gather for a morning coffee at the start of the day all over Paris at cafés, coffee shops, & brasseries. The terrace is the "3rd space" aka public meeting spot of Parisians, every group has a favorite spot, city is community.

Here is my neighborhood (I'm in the middle) and Google maps is even missing quite a few of the bakeries. Easily 20+ in a 10 minute walk. Our neighborhood is our food pantry; we have vendors for pastries, butchers, fruits, vegetables, cheese, wine, seafood, coffee, teas, spices, etc - everything.
