It'd be cool to have a control group, see what the experience is for someone not attached to pokemon or knowing Pokedex entries. But I agree that it's probably better to have knowledge of how pokemon works before going in. Type advantages mostly.

No exact answers yet, but if I remember my Pokedex entries both Absol and H Zoroark are related to disasters. Absol warning of them and ghost Zoroark being a result of them? Taking a name related to a natural disaster could be awesome!

Gates is incredibly underappreciated! While it probably deserves its reputation in relation to the others (being likely the worst in the series), it's not bad, just short!

The look would be incredible. You'd run into a little weirdness depending on what tone you're going for. Like, do pokemon die in combat? Because they'd definitely be killing some important NPCs unless the gun was modified to fire safer ammunition.

Can pop up anywhere, have feral creatures (A great source of backstory and character ideas), and everyone knows to avoid or go explore for treasure.

I can add more but I don't want to drop a wall of text (anymore than I already have lol). And of course this is all my opinion.

You don't need to randomize dungeons, dungeons are way more fun in the typical D&D fashion when they're curated experiences. But "mysterious" can still be used. Gates to Infinity has cool dungeon modifiers that randomly happen. But in the setting, mystery dungeons should be a known thing that (👇)

And they need to have those predefined personality quirks and habits like a Pokedex would explain to you. That way when you have something to work with (or against) for your character's personality.

Personally, the "random" aspect of dungeons isn't needed. (Continued 👇)
