Johnson's priority was to maintain his 'maverick' persona, which has always been a minutely rehearsed and curated construct. Central to this was his mantra of English exceptionalism - you may recall he was adamant we wouldn't be doing what the Continentals did.

I thought Mistle Thrushes set up breeding territories very early (nesting starts February) but you might be right, they could be staking their claim to berries as well.

As well as the replacing wetlands with ordinary pasture, reclamation ended the seamless transition from freshwater grazing-marsh to saltmarsh to estuary. Further 'improvements' eventually resulted in the loss of breeding birds such as Ruff and Spotted Crake from the North Tees Marshes.

I don't disagree but it's all relative. Climate breakdown is the most acute crisis threatening the world and a Reform govt would set back UK efforts by decades. Ed Milliband is not Richard Tice.
