"How did you hurt your back?"

"Let's see, I got up, took a shower, got dressed, and...yep I guess it was that stuff."

If you're a normal, aging adult and not looking to train up for something big, set realistic goals and enjoy them, and DONT GET HURT!

My current regimen is about 10-15 min of weight machines, with relatively low weights, and about 1/2 on treadmill, no incline, with approx 1min intervals of walk/run. And if, e.g. my achilles is sore, i modify it for a while.

Turns out maintaining the machine doesn't require too much--150 min per week, in as many chunks as you want, and walking counts.
You might have other goals that require you to push harder. Awesome. Don't get hurt cuz recovery in your 50s takes longer.

I'm lucky...our family problems are the pretty normal kind, but that doesn't mean it isn't messy, complicated.

And as long as you protect yourself and your loved ones (related and otherwise), you're good. Can't deal with your fam on thxgiving? Ditch the guilt, if you can. Dont sacrifice your wellbeing for others' narcissistic needs, right?

I tell people all the time that there is no right or wrong way to grieve. This also goes for how to do family holidays. Families (like US history!) are complicated, messy, often working off of shared lies/myths.

by recognizing real history and stop pretending our 4th grade teacher was telling us the truth about it.

The complexity is deeper of course because its tradtionally a family holiday and, well, families are complicated.

Auto makers aren’t going to like this. They’ll be torn between avoiding safety litigation and competing on cost.
