It particularly drives me crazy because in just a couple months it'll be, "Oh, you're doing something inward-focusing and spiritual for Lent? lol so shallow. Try actually doing for something for other people!" and it's like it's almost like we have different seasons to focus on internal

Yeah I'm being too cute by half with commercialization but I'm critical of homilies and thoughtpieces that hate on gift giving. If you're "getting so caught up" on buying gifts for *others* that's just good.

Haven't seen it either yet but yeah with this kind of thing it's important to set the bar at, "They're kinda getting at something with this. I think I see what they were trying to do." instead of, "this is actually good."

I don't get the criticism of this one. Like, prompting, "generate me a cool song!" is obviously not composition but genAI can certainly help with lessons and tell you how a line of music would sound with instruments you don't have.

I don't think this is true at all. I mean you might as well just say, "Bullying doesn't exist" as say that no one thinks true bullying is good.
People use bullying as a tactic here all the time. It's obviously not about justice—it's about fun and preserving hierarchies. They love it.

It bums me out because I get why people who aren't really read-in on the culture war are so excited about this kind of thing as a resource. And we're a bit light on alternatives that do the things Hallow does.
