My PI absolutely shredded me when I made all of these mistakes on the first draft of my thesis. She didn't even bother getting to the third page of the first chapter before saying, "You need to fix ALL this shit."

Or nesting mid-sentence brackets within other brackets, and making a whole other publication within the same text of just footnotes.

When I could be organizing toward a future I wanna see, I'm saving to get my family out and watching to see when I need to pull the trigger before that door is closed.

I have plans to leave because my family's at risk but also I don't wanna upend my kids' lives needlessly if things get less shit, and also I wanna stay here to keep helping to fix it. I'm in a lot better position than most but all I'm doing is stuff that keeps people in my community afloat.
