The river Tay meets the sea at Dundee. On the opposite bank to the south is Fife. This was home for a decade. I still miss living by the water, and the people who made us welcome. Doesn’t matter that we made #Northumberland home and fifteen years have sped by.

Today is #RLSDay which marks the birthday of the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson who would have been 175 today.
It's also a good day to remember that it is NOT actually his birthday because in 1891 he gave it away to a young girl because she didn't like her birthday. 🧵

The world is expected to build more renewable energy projects in the next five years than in the previous 40, according to a new report by the International Energy Agency.

Despite the green backlash, the transition is now inevitable, it says.

Yes, this. We all get richer from a simple tax code, with well-designed taxes and the right incentives (for everyone) to work and not avoid tax. The UK tax system is one of the worst globally for this. There’s a clear set of recommendations on what to do (by Mirrlees, Nobel economist). From 2010!

NEW: Global fossil fuel use will peak before 2030 – unless 'stated policies' are abandoned

Contra some terrible news coverage, IEA World Energy Outlook shows coal near peak, oil peaking by 2030 & gas by 2035 (see chart)

What's going on? 🧵 + cool charts
