Doomer is a heavy shoegaze song I wrote about human nature and feeling hopeless about the current state of the world. Unfortunately after this last election I can't say my attitude has changed. Grateful to have found this app where everyone's good vibes have been helping my mental state quite a bit!
New Pedalboard Pt 9

Finally got around to adding proper power and USB connections to the side of the board. Routed out some holes and then joined power using Wago connectors which I later wrapped with heat shrink. Having a power switch is quite an upgrade! USB means no wear on my pedal ports.

Central IL people, come see me play in my band Sunwise tonight at Matt Talbott's bar!
Tonight! Kicking out some jams in Tolono, IL at the Loose Cobra.

Had a blast doing about 9 straight hours of bass and guitar tracking with Matt and Bill from Forbidden Seas this weekend. Had four different amp setups all going at once via splitter with mics and cabs all in the separate live room.

Been mixing lately and it's reminding me to share one of my most used plugins: Pop by airwindows. Not Pop2, but the original one. I bus all my close mics (kick, snare, toms) together and then send via aux to another track with Pop on it. It's the punchiest thing ever. Only three settings. Rock. 🤘

Behold, the pedalboard in its natural habitat: the floor of the local drinking establishment.

New Pedalboard Pt 8

Used the wife's Cricut to make some glow in the dark vinyl labels for the patch panel. They were a little tricky to apply perfectly, but good enough for rock n roll. There's the 4 cable I/O as well as two relay outputs and a guest pedal loop. Next week we'll add some USB-C ports

Hey St. Louis, come and see my pedalboard in action!
If you're in the St. Louis area come see us at Platypus on Friday Feb 7th. Heroes of the Kingdom and Kilverez are both killer bands and we plan on bringing it as well.

New Pedalboard pt 7

It's alive! It may look a little chaotic underneath, but there's quite a bit of cable management going on. In the future I'll probably upgrade power and find a cleaner solution for the ML10X splitters. Replaced the Slo with a Meris Mercury X. Found a used case on FB for $30!

New Pedalboard pt 6

The fun stuff! This step was all about testing and programming, nothing permanent yet. Got the pedals laid out how I think they will end up, and did temporary patching of power, midi, and signal in order to get going on programming the Morningstar ML10X and MC6 Pro.

New Pedalboard pt 5

Painted it black, added some nice handles, and got the Velcro on! Finally we get to the fun part: pedals and wiring

Pedalboard Update

Finalized the 3D printed junction box and did a final print in black. Added a piece of wood to secure the front panel, and then finished off attaching the top pieces that the pedals will sit on. Next I need to paint the whole thing black and add the velcro.

My band dropped a new song today! If you dig bands like Swervedriver, HUM, or early Smashing Pumpkins you should check it out.
If you need some pure caffeine for your ears, our new song Oath Skull just dropped this morning. Guaranteed to leave you feeling fresh.

Started building some prototype input boxes for the new board using my 3D printer. I had some old Neutrik patchbays lying around and decided to rehouse the modules. 16 1/4" jacks felt like plenty of I/O for one board in case I want to do anything fancy. Still a few changes to make, but a good start!

Santa was real nice this year! Going to post everything going into my new pedalboard build this next month or so.

Meris LVX, LIne 6 HX One, or Hologram Electronics Chroma Console: which would you choose? Anything else I should try? Looking for an all-around MIDI pedal to start off my new pedalboard after I get a Morningstar MC6 Pro in a few weeks.

The current pedalboard next to the future one. Lots to do still, but hoping to have this thing up and running by February. MIDI is coming!

Not sure if this drink has a name, but it is the hit of my holiday season:

2oz bourbon
1oz banana liquor
0.5oz cinnamon syrup
2 dashes angostura bitters

Stir in a mixing glass over ice, and then serve in a rocks glass with a giant fancy cube. Enjoy!

How can I tell Google that I've never cared less about anything in my entire lifetime than I've not cared about this?

Guitar Pro Tip: If you have all your pedals connected, but they only pass signal in bypass, they might all be connected backwards.

Don't worry about how I know this.

With winter setting in and the humidity plummeting, I stuck all my guitars in a closet with a humidifier in hopes of keeping them from getting damaged. Is this a good way to store guitars during the cold seasons? I have whole-house humidification, but it rarely gets above 30% RH even with it on.

One of the advantages of putting your reverbs on a separate channel instead of directly on the source is that you can then enhance them without changing your source signal. A high-pass filter on your reverb is almost always a good idea, or try a compressor or distortion/saturation afterwards.
